"We like to introduce ourselves by turning around. When we turn back around clap like we are famous," Kyle, a member from the Mayhem Poets said. "We have always wanted to be rock stars, so pretend this is a rock show."

Going into the performance I had no idea what to expect. I did not know if it was going to be like a regular poetry reading or more like a rap battle. Once the show started, I was pleasantly surprised. I have never seen anything like it!

The skit that they started with was one of my two favorites. They all joined together by saying, "My name is," and then went back and forth between Kyle, Scott, and Mason. They would all just say random words for names such as, "My name is college," and then whoever said it would say; "But you can call me unaffordable." That went on for a while, and I really loved every "synonym" they said.

My second favorite skit was the one word poem. Each of them only said one word and fed off of what the person before them said. Within the one word poem they did impressions. They did an impression of Classical Music, a cat singing Classical Music, our parents, and the audience as first graders. It was hilarious.

I definitely liked when they did their group poems rather than when they did their individual poems. They work well together and vibe off of each others' energy. The individual poems that I enjoyed the most were Kyle's. My favorite poem of his was the one on his heroes. It was for his mom and it was very sentimental. It gave a lot of deep background information and I felt like I could connect with him.

I really enjoyed their performance and I hope that they make it onto America's Got Talent because I will be rooting for them all the way!
