Wondering what Cougar Mail is? SCC has provided students the opportunity to create an on-line mailing account with the college. The e-mailing system has some similarities to WebCT but at the same time is also very different. Assignments or syllabus updates may be communicated through the mailing system if the professor chooses to use the mailing system in that way. Some professors may even use this system to update assignments before class starts the next day so that’s another good reason to create an account.  Cougar mail is not here to replace WebCT but can be used for a variety of different features. Other important updates a student will receive through the mailing system are information about financial aid, updates, and deadlines.

If a student does not have a Cougar Mail account signing up for one is easy because it uses the same log-in information as WebCT so most students will already be familiar on how to sign in. Just go to the www.stchas.edu and sign up! There will be an icon on the homepage that says Cougar Mail, just click it and the website will direct you from there on how to create an account. Cougar mail has been available to students since January of last year but since it is a new asset to the college students may not know that it’s there and may be missing out on important updates. “Now that we have Cougar Mail any updates from SCC cashiers, or any notifications about library fines, and grades will now be sent through the mailing system.” Lindsey Lewis, SCC’s help desk annalist said.

Updates about current events and registration deadlines will also be posed through Cougar Mail. Other features one may find are ways to make your own appointment calendar create personal contacts, and of course sending e-mails will also be available to students who choose to use it. “I check my Cougar mail everyday as well as WebCT and I find it’s very helpful. If I need to check any updates for assignments or changes my professors have made it’s all right there,” SCC student Darryl Chandler said. An on-line brochure is available on the SCC website with more information too if a student wants to learn more about it. So take some time to sign up for your account now and start receiving important updates on SCC information.
